Carrying the burden of an addict can be tiresome and emotionally draining. You either spend your time enabling the addiction or trying to convince them to acknowledge the problem in the hope they will want to help themselves. The addict certainly doesn’t spend the same amount of time worrying about him or herself.
Matt carries that burden when it comes to his younger brother. He is always expecting him to fall back into old habits every time he comes up against any type of difficulty. It also doesn’t help that is brother is planning a wedding and intending to marry a fellow addict. Not exactly a recipe for success and staying clean.
Time to just let go and perhaps Callie is the right person to teach Matt how. Perhaps she can help him battle his inner fears and anxiety about his brother? If she can’t and he doesn’t let go, the two of them are going to go nowhere quickly.
This is a turbulent and funny romance with a serious sub-plot, with plenty of sizzling hot moments between Matt and Callie.
