Who are Lifers playing messenger for?

Hereafter (Shadowlands, #2)Hereafter by Kate Brian
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the sequel to Shadowlands an interesting YA tale.
Now and again it was in danger of being a little bit drama-teen, as opposed to the conceptually strong story that the author brought to the table. Keeping the focus on the intricate details and the element of darkness will make all the difference between memorable series and yet another watered down YA story.
The concept has enough variety to go in any direction. The town could be something other than what the Lifers think it is. Are the orders being handed down from some higher power or is someone else pulling the strings?
Joaquin really stood out in this novel and I would rather see Rory with him than with soppy secretive Tristan, who can’t be trusted as far as I am concerned.
As for Darcy, well she needs to put her big girl panties on and stop acting like a brat.
I would like to see the author give Rory a stronger attitude and personality to go with all those inner doubts and good gut instinct she has. Perhaps have her kick some butt instead of having to be rescued by the next available male every time she is in trouble.
This is certainly a series I would recommend.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley.
