Talking to the dead becomes a deadly hazard…

Something WickedSomething Wicked by Angela Campbell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This turned out to be quite a surprise.
It is a very well-written paranormal romance, the sequel to On the Scent with plenty of sub-plots for further books.
It flowed really smoothly plotwise with just the right amount of steamy bedroom scenes with the paranormal storyline jogging seamlessly alongside. Often authors find it difficult to balance the two genres in one story but this was just right.
The main character Alexandra has been tasked with finding her employers brother so the two of them can reconcile. The person who has sent her on this mission just happens to be dead. Whilst out searching for him she stumbles into the midst of a police investigation and unfortunately the killer takes a shine to her.
So what we have here are the ingredients for a normal para romance and yes it has all been done before, but this just ticked all the boxes for me. It was entertaining without being cheesy, it was romantic without being x-rated or soppy and there was enough action to sustain an interest in the crime angle.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley.
