Will tells his side of the story…

This Girl (Slammed, #3)This Girl by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I am not entirely convinced by this new modus operandi when it comes to writing a book and then making it a trilogy by writing the same story three times from a different characters point of view. It didn’t work for Walking Disaster and although this is a far better attempt at it, that new-fangled fad is to the detriment of the first two books.
It also presents Will and Lake in a new light, perhaps one that shows the cracks and the blemishes more clearly. Aside from the predictable teacher meets student and suffers heart wrenching pain because it is completely wrong for him to want to do the fandango with a student, hut hey he wants to anyway. The readers gets to see a less than likeable side to Lake. She behaves like young child having a tantrum because someone might have pre-licked her lolly. (The lolly being Will of course)
The poetry was an interesting aspect of the book. I didn’t find it very awe inspiring but it did get the point across in a teenage high school kind of way.
I thought the most endearing part of the book was the blossoming relationship between the two young boys and their witty remarks.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley
